We love to play... and not just because it's great fun! Playing is the foundation of learning and the best way to develop language, communication and social skills.
Our playroom has been designed with children at the heart of it. Playing is the foundation of learning and one of the best ways to develop language, communication and social skills. We love for children to explore and naturally follow their interests through play. That is why our team has carefully chosen all of the toys, games and crafts. All of these are recommended by speech and language therapists as they are good for language, communication, vocabulary learning and speech. In addition, many of our toys and games come with an enhanced picture pack to help foster communication.
Our playgroups provide the opportunity for free play in a small group (up to 6 children). We are currently excited to offer four playgroups weekly. They are offered on Tuesday and Fridays in the morning and afternoon. Playgroups are centered around picture enhanced games and toys that are updated seasonally. In addition, we have recently added holiday themed playgroups.
The playgroups involve a high level of therapeutic play for the children with their parents/carers supervised by one of our specality staff members. This all takes place naturally, working to the child's strengths and interests, rather than through adult-led activities. We are passionate about inclusion and learning through play and social interaction. Being an inclusive playroom means we focus on creating an environment that nourishes a sense of belonging, feeling of respect and value for the individual differences amongst all children. We welcome everyone to join in the fun!

Our toy box scheme is just one other way of sharing our resources within the community. Our toy boxes allow for us to share all of our speciality resources with local schools, nurseries and children centers. They can rent a small, medium or large box filled with recommended toys, games, books and activities. These can be enhanced with Pictologue Picture Packs so that children who have speech, language and communication needs are able to enjoy play and learning together with their peers every day.
We currently deliver and collect our toy boxes within and around Richmond Upon Thames. Look at the bottom of our homepage to fill out your toy box application today!
